COMPASS Project supports the 2015 national training on International Merchandise Trade Statistics for Vietnam Customs officers

Supported by EU-ASEAN COMPASS project (the EU-ASEAN Capacity Building Project for Monitoring Integration Process and Statistics), the General Department of Vietnam Customs facilitated the  2015 National Training course on IMTS for Vietnam Customs officers from 12th to 14th of October.

The Training course was held in Vung Tau city over 3 days with the participant of 60 customs officers come from Customs Branches of the country. The two experts from COMPASS project, Mr. Romesh Paul – Team Leader and Mr. Henri Tyrman, IMTS key expert presented the following topics: (1) New or updated Recommendations and Encouragements contained in IMTS 2010; (2) Trade data quality checking and assurances and (3) Mirror Analysis.

The Statisticians from the head quarter of Vietnam Customs also introduced the current customs statistical program, new statistical documents, and the plan for developing the new statistical systems connecting with Vietnam Automated Cargo Clearance Systems (VNACCS).

The COMPASS experts shared their experience and all participants deeply discussed the other topics such as: revision policy, confidential policy, dissemination policy …During the course, the participants practiced processing data and did the data checking. The training course is a good opportunity for customs officers who responsible for statistics enhance their knowledge in statistical methodology, statistical analysis.
