Preliminary assessment of Vietnam international merchandise trade performance in the first half of December, 2019

The Vietnam Customs Statistics announced that in the first half (01-15/11/2019) of  December-2019 , Vietnam’s total exports of  US dollars 10.02 billion and imports  of  US dollars 10.32 billion resulted in a trade deficit of nearly US dollars 299 million. Accordingly, the total value of export and import turnover of Vietnam in the first half of December was US dollars 20.35 billion, down by 7.2% as compared to the second half of November-2019.

Vietnam‘s trade-in-goods from January to the first half of December of 2019 totaled US dollars 492.71 billion in value terms. It posted a growth of 7.1% (equivalent to USD 32.75 billion) from the same period of the previous year

In the view of FDI traders, the value of exportation and importation in the first half of December reached USD 12.02 billion, down by 9.9% as compared to the second half of November 2019. Therefore, from January to December 15th of 2019, the total value of FDI merchandise trade went up 8.7% to US dollar 309.9 billion.

Export:

When compared with the second half of November-2019, export of the first half of December was down by 14.5%, mostly as a result of the climb-down registered in telephone, mobile phone and part thereof (down by 37.2% - USD 820 million); machine tools and equipments (down by 17% - USD 159 million); foot-wear (down by 12.9% - USD 116 million); textiles and garments (down by 6.8% - USD 90 million); computers, electrical products and part thereof (down by 3.6% - USD 60 million); …

Import:

In the first half of December 2019, import was up by 1.2% when compared with the second half of November, mainly reflecting the widen of crude oil (up by USD 127 million); animal fodders and animal fodder materials (up by 70.5% - USD 74 millions equally); machine, equipment, tools and instruments (up by 4.1% - USD 64 million); computers, electrical products and part thereof (up by 2.1% - USD 43 million)…
