According to statistics data of anti-smuggling and Investigation Department, Vietnam Customs seized 1,868 cases in the first quarter 2012 (from Feb.16th to March.15th 2012).
The estimated seized value reaches Vietnam dong 44 billion and 665 million.
The specific cases are mentioned as followings:
On 17/01/2012, Customs Branch at border gate Cau Treo – Ha Tinh Customs Department seized 01 passenger illegally bringing 06 pieces of marijuana with weight of 5.47kg by checking with scanners.
On 20/02/2012, the Enforcement Unit - Lang Son Customs Department seized 20,340 kg of frozen chicken legs with origin Brazil, 11,508 kg of frozen pig stomachs without any remarks.
At 10 a.m on 22/02/2012, joint working groups of Chieng Khuong Customs Branch and Song Ma police Department seized 01 person who illegally transporting drugs when they were on their duty. Materials seized include 4,834.11 gram drugs, 01 mobile phone and 01 motorbike.
On 28/02/2012, Team 1 - Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department in co-operation with Noi Bai Customs Branch – Hanoi Capital Department found 18 pieces with weight of 22kg doubted as rhino horn in 02 passengers’ baggage. These passengers could not submit any relevant documents.
On 28/02/2012, Team 1 - Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department in co-operation with Noi Bai Customs Branch – Hanoi Capital Department found 01 passenger in flight from Czech to Vietnam bringing 22 long-barreled guns in disassembled form.
At 1 p.m on 30/02/2012, Customs Branch at Tay Trang border gate – Dien Bien Customs Department in co-operation with Anti-drug Division, Border Guard Team of Dien Bien province and Tay Trang Border Guard Team 429 seized 02 passengers illegally purchasing, transporting drugs from border area to inland. Materials seized include 05 pieces (= 1,728.28 gram heroin), 428 pieces of synthetic drugs, 02 mobile phones, 01 motor bike and 1.2 Vietnam dong million.
According to statistics data, there were 45 cases of drugs among 1,868 cases seized by Vietnam Customs.
